  • Makita 9227C Standard Backing Plate + Soft Buff 2.0 Pads

I've difficulties in finding a M16 backing plate for my makita 9227C so i've trimmed makita standard backing plate to fit my soft buff 2.0 pads. But I still wondering what are disadvantages by doing so? despite it's now less flexible compared to W68 + Soft buff 2.0 combo since there're no W68 coming for M16 spindle.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Makita 9227C Standard Backing Plate + Soft Buff 2.0 Pads

After somehow get my hand on W68, I can surely say that there're differences between makita standard backing plate and W68. I think that makita doesn't have foam pad in their mind while they're designing their standard backing plate. Wool pad was in their mind when they're designing the backing plate. And using it with soft buff 2.0 means sacrificing your hand, your back as shock breaker as the polisher tends to jiggle all the times and couple that with a first timer rotary user. Despite of its advantages, I managed to detail couple of car using it while I'm new to rotary polishing and gaining experiences how the rotary polisher behave, and it's a lot of pain in the processes. In the other hand, I believe that W68 was designed with foam pad in meguiars' mind, which explains why it's so comfortable and controllable while paired with soft buff 2.0 pads that makes buffing is a enjoyable experience.
