  • Meguiars pads info

    Hello,
I just bought the low price Chicago speed polisher and it came with 7 inch hook and loop backing plate.

Can I use Meguiars pads with this backing plate?

    Thank you.

    Thank you.
If the diameter of the backing plate is a full 7" you'll need to stick with our W7000, W8000 and W9000 pads as they are 8" diameter pads. Provided the tool has the typical 5/8" arbor (which we're pretty sure it does) you can, however, use our W64 or W68 backing plates. The W68 fits perfectly into the recess on the back of our Soft Buff 2.0 pads. The supplied 7" backing plate will not work with these pads.

the meguiars pads are 7" pads but have a recessed section to fit a smaller plate i wanna say 6.5".. that backing plate is junk anyways, but if your really determined to use that plate. cut it!!! and make it to your liking

That's the key - and what we figured anyway - so our backing plates will definitely fit.

yah i got lucky and scored a black acura integra hood... perfect to practice on but now im looking for something with a harder clearcoat. things are too easy on the soft paint. but never the less... not all cars are the same hardness! good luck and happy buffing

Definitely get rid of that backing plate. I have the same machine and junked the the plate in favor of a W68 for 7" 2.0 pads. I highly recommend it, you will feel the difference right away.

I didn't know there was much of difference in plates thought they all would perform the same.

Which products would you guys recommend?

Right know I only have the megs consumer products not sure if they could be used with a buffer.
Cleaner wax(red bottle) scratch x and ultimate compound
I see they have a few different 7 inch pads.

                Thanks for all your help.
