  • rotary advice pls.

Hello everyone! Ready to order a rotary and begin the learning process....after doing a bit of research, I'm leaning toward the Flex 3403. The reduced weight is the main attraction for me, although I'm still a bit wary of the fact that it has a higher min. speed than the Makita or Dewalt.Seems a lot of forum members like to finish their rotary work with speeds in the sub-1000 rpm range (jewelling?)...Is this something I should be paying more attention to? Also, manufacturer states that maximum pad size should be no more than 6.5"...is that because this machine is a bit less powerful than other rotaries? Any comments/opinions are most welcome....particularly from some who have experience with both Flex and Makita/Dewalt.
    Thank you, Al

    Re: rotary advice pls.

Some reports seem to indicate this particular unit is a bit noisy and not really suited for heavy duty work, although most reviews are very, very positive.

Have you looked at the Hitachi rotary? Pretty lightweight and very quiet.

Thks Michael, will indeed have a look at the Hitachi....quiet is always good when you're working with these things for hours at a time!
