  • UC with rotary

I used UC with a rotary and a wool pad. It did work very good , but you can tell UC is not made for rotary use. You cant buff till dry . What I did is make 4 or 5 passes with a rotary and UC and then just wipe the rest of the residue off . I followed with Color X by hand, and then NXT2 by hand. I did not see any buff marks when I got done. I wish I had before and after pictures.

    Re: UC with rotary

UC uses Meguiar's new SMAT technology and is intended not to dry. Like SMAT products M105/M205, the abrasives are non-diminishing and will not break down even with prolonged buffing. Although M105 sometimes appears to dry out, another member here posted that if you keep working the product, the dryness will disappear.

While it is true that Ultimate Compound was not designed for rotary use, you mention specifically not being able to buff until dry. Technically, even our Mirror Glaze products that are designed for rotary use should not be buffed until dry. This includes both diminishing abrasive products and SMAT products.

        Re: UC with rotary

Can someone explain why if UC is similar to 105 and 205, what difference in the product makes the 105/205 usable with a rotary and the UC not? Does it lack a special rotary ingredient? Sorry im kindof a newb, but ive used UC with a rotary a few times and got rather reasonable results.

          Re: UC with rotary

I got a perfect finish using the UC with a rotary and the polishing pad. The UC actually took a while to dry up which is good. Had bad experience with SwirlX though.

            Re: UC with rotary

I spent two days fixing a car that was abused with UC and a rotary. So I go by a general rule of thumb: if it ain't got the sticker for it, then don't combine it (i.e. if it doesn't say hand / DA / rotary I am not going to be using it with that)
