  • Scratches and product to use

    Hi Folks,

New to the boards I have a problem though.......I am an a moderately experienced user on a rotary buffer (had one for 5 years), and left my waxes, etc outside all winter on accident.

    They are toast!

Anyways, I've never have used a Meguairs compound/etc to get rid of scratches....I bought a new used car, and the rear bumper (Ford Freestyle) has some moderate scratches that could be mitigated with some good compound.

What product should I use to aid in my quest? I have a waffle pad from 3M......I used to use some compound to keep my old car that was keyed to mitigate the damage done and it looked half way decent. The Freestyle isn't nearly as bad!

    Please advise. I appreciate it!

      Welcome to Meguiars Online!!
I am thinking you will need something more aggressive than that.
I would go with SwirlX or Ultimate Compound.
Then Seal it off with Meguairs NXT Tech Wax 2.0
Just Remember the least aggressive method possible.

Tim Lingor gives some pretty comprehensive reviews on Meguiars products. Check out his reviews on M105\M205: Tim Lingor's Meguiar's Product Reviews

Re: Scratches and product to use

              Thanks for the suggestions.

I used the X 2.0 today, and noticed that it works really well on small scratches. The ones one my wife's car are a little deeper. After I applied the X 2.0, they blended in better. Once I put the wax on, they came back.....

I noticed that this is a very mild abrasive from reflections from swirls. I will have to get some other things to work with the rotary. I had some good stuff, but its old and I used to get it from a distrib. when I was a porter in college.

If your using rotary, D151 is a good product. ADS has smaller sample sizes.
