  • Glaze #7 and Rotary

New to detailing.... I bought a glaze # 7 and now I have a Makita.... can I use this glaze with the rotary and if the answer is yes ... what should happen..... is the color white and goes to a clear when broken down.? what setting should i use 1, 2 or 3 ? How many minutes should I work on a 2x2 panel ?

    Re: Glaze #7 and Rotary

M07 Show Car Glaze is designed to be used by hand, orbital or DA Polisher. If you try and use it with a rotary, you might end up with a dry mess M07 really doesn't have the play time needed for rotary application.

We created M03 Machine Glaze to solve this M03 is designed specifically to be used by a rotary.

They are both pure polishes, just designed for different application styles.

Have you ever used a rotary buffer?
      What are you working on?
What are you trying to do?

No I never used a rotary.... I'm working on an 2006 Camry that has minor damage and a few scratches... I tried scratchX and colorX by hand and they helped alittle... I thought i'll move up to a rotary.

          Re: Glaze #7 and Rotary

If you've never used a rotary, it might be a good idea to try and get a scrap hood or fender to practice on.......not your own vehicle. A rotary can do some serious damage if you don't have any experience with one.

I was going to put the makita on the lowest setting and give it a try or is this not advised .... I understand that its better to practise on a scrap hood but how many hours should I practise on it before trying it on the actual car.

Please explain Pros/Cons between Rotary and Orbital Buffers

Can a Rotary Buffer like a Makita or DeWalt be as Idiot-proof as a PC?

Learning to use the Rotary Buffer

If the scratches you're trying to remove are deep at all then the best way to remove them is to sand them out and then use the rotary buffer to remove your sanding marks.

This is where it can start getting complicated if you've never done any wet-sanding or used a rotary buffer before.

You can try to remove them using either a wool or foam pad and a compound, paint cleaner or cleaner/polish.

What kind of pads do you have and what kind of rotary buffer chemicals do you have?

                Re: Glaze #7 and Rotary

I would definitely practice on a scrap hood. For how long? until you feel comfortable with the machine. It is very easy to make a mistake with the rotary. Be careful.

                  Re: Glaze #7 and Rotary

I have edge pads... blue, white, green and yellow... The only rotary compound I have is a 12 oz sample of M105 and a 32 oz of D151. I have a makita 9227 rotary.

Try the Edge equivalent of a polishing pad with the M105 and buff a section about a foot squared or so and then inspect your results.
