  • New rotary... I need some product suggestions

As the title states I need some suggestions for what types of products that are a must have for this machine.

I've been using my G100 DA for about a year now, and I'm getting pretty good results but my friend just bought a Dewalt buffer so we basically share eachother stuff.

I've been using M80 and M83 on the *8006* pads with my G100. Should I step up to M84 with these pads, or something different? The buffer came with a meguiars wool pad as well, I've heard that works well with the M84.

I will basically be using this for heavier blemishes that my G100 failed to remove. I'm just a weekend warrior on a college budget so I am open to any suggestions you may have.

M84 is a great compound with both wool and foam.

Right now the hottest compound on the market is our M105 Ultra Cut Compound, definitely get your hands on some of this.

D151 just started shipping too, might want to try this one out, kind of depends upon what kind of work you're doing?

    Production Detailing?
    Show Cars?
    Personal Cars?

      Thanks Mike!

I went to a local body/detail shop today and they had the 105 already...I thought maybe it would be too much for a rotary newbie like myself.

I'll grab some of that for sure, and would you recommend getting both 105 and 84? or should I just go with the 105? I'm liking what I'm seeing with the new paint reconditioning cream. I think I'll try some of both. thanks for the suggestion.

I wish I was doing production detailing or show cars, but right now I'm just doing personal cars, and family and friends daily drivers. Although I have been thinking about starting a little on the side thing with a friend of mine who has worked at a couple detail shops, since we're still in school.

The paint on the hood of this Mustang is a custom paint job, not from the factory so I don't know what kind of paint it is but it sure buffed easy using the M105

We sanded it with #2000 by machine and used the M105 with a rotary buffer and our dual sided wool pad and it was so easy to remove the sanding marks and restore a show car shine it was unreal.

M105 is a great choice even if you're just starting out... you'll have to cut your teeth so to speak on something... might as well be M105

M84 and M85 are both very good compounds too, maybe start with M105 and see how it works for you and you can always add some more tools to your tool chest as you move forward.

          @ Mike:

You always said "first test the lower abrasive product - then step up if it doesn't work like you want to"

Now you say "Start with the #105 (abrasiveness: 12) then test #84 or #85 (abrasiveness: 9 or 10)

Why do you say so ?

OH I see, you did it with the G110 ! ;-)

          Bye !

Meguiar's always teaches the philosophy of,

"Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

And that is usually the case. With the introduction of our new super micro abrasive technology used in M105, M95, M86 and D151, you can alter how aggressive these products are by changing your pad, your process, (hand versus machine and type of machine), and also amount of time you work the product and number of applications.

So there is an exception to the rule and one thing for sure, our new technology is work really well and it makes it a popular first choice of product for many people for the above reasons and the results they produce.

            Experience helps too...
