Wild and wooly

So for the first time I decided to break out the wool pad (the one that came with the Makita). I used one of those spur tools until the shedding stopped. However when I was buffing, little hairs came flying out and landed all over the paint work. I kept on using the spur tool, but it didn't seem to offer much help. As I don't have one of the nice system 3000 pad cleaning systems, what is the correct procedure for de-hairing a new wool pad?

You're doing it.

Spur the pad, use it, spur the pad some more as needed, you'll end up with little wool dust bunnies on the garage floor.

How long does it take before it stops shedding, or is that on ongoing thing?

It will diminish as it breaks in, but it will always shed a little when you're using it and of course when you're spurring it.

It creates these little wool dust bunnies in your garage that will blow around with the wind and pile up in corners and under things.

Its the sticking to the car thats the issue.

I like the way the wool pad works, and I prefer it for "cutting" rather than the foam pad (W7006).

Worked great with M84 Too bad most the scratches on my '93 truck are too deep.

When I made a 7000 pad into a 7006, I had red dust all over me, the back room and blew into the laundry room. I looked like I got tagged like an overpass, covered in red dust. LOL.

Can't wait to try M105 and the double sided wool pad.

My cats love chasing them around. Then they eat them. Then they throw them up. They are just Meguiar's hairballs.

All of the wool pads that I've ever used pile up drifts of hair balls until they are well broken in. I have a new Schlegel that I used in my basement over the winter to do some body parts - and even after a major spring cleaning am still finding little piles of fuzz. Amazing how one 9" diameter pad can shed so much
