  • I just joined the rotary club!

I am super excited, I just purchased a Makita 9227 CX3. Now the real fun begins! I figured I would stop by a junk yard and pick up some body panels to practice on since my BLACK Corvette isn't probably the best training vehicle. I also have a 99 Dodge Dakota, but it's white. It will definitely see action sooner than my baby, but I have all winter to practice before prime car driving season starts.

A couple of quick questions. It did not indicate whether or not it came with a velcro backing plate. Do I need to pick one of those up? I have a pretty good stock of 8006 and 9006 pads, will those work on the rotary? Pretty dumb questions, but I've been detailing my car and a dealerships cars for well over a year now and figured I would make the jump for those cars that the G-100 can't touch.

    Thanks again!

Congrats on the new toy!! I just recently joined the club as well but haven't had much chance to play yet.

As for the backing plate, yes, pick one up the same size as the one you use on the DA and you can use the same pads. Heck, you can use M80 on the rotary and then just pull that same pad off, slap it on the DA, squirt on some more M80 and do your final polishing!

Yep, I'm a member there too. I check it everyday, but I know Richard has a lot going on right now. So, in the mean time, I'll just keep checking, but I doubt the rotary will stay in it's packaging before I get the video. Might as well try to teach myself while waiting and get the fear of the machine out of my head.

I don't know how much Mike is involved with the production of the video anymore since he left SCG. At any rate, if it's as good as the DA DVD...I'm golden!
