  • Centering meg pads

Hi everyone, I got a question regarding pad centering.

I have the W64 backing plate and a couple of Megs pads.
I folded the pad like a taco and lined up the little stub.

After spinning up the rotary, it seems like it is not 100% centered, even though it is perfectly centered to the backing plate. Almost seems like the velcro is not centered on the foam pad itself. I only got 1 pad out of 7 to center perfectly.

Any suggestions?? Maybe I am just doing it wrong.

Lay the pad on the car with the velcro side up, then just sit the buffer onto the pad. You can see the edge when you do that and get it cetered.

There is a design technique for what you're trying to do,

Look at the Velcro on the back of our foam pads and you'll see a hole in the center about 5/8" across. Now look at our rotary buffer backing plates and you'll see a nubbin, (a small round component sticking out of the center of the backing plate), that's approximately 5/8" across in diameter.

The idea is to fold the foam pad like a Taco with the Velcro on the outside, this will place the hole on the crease or fold of the Taco shape of the pad as it's in one of your hands, then bring this closer to the backing plate and because you've folded the foam pad like a Taco you can see the hole in the Velcro as it gets closer to the nubbin so that you can align the pad to the backing plate.

That's the alignment technique and that's why there's a hole in the center of the Velcro on our foam pads.

      Hope this helps...
