  • Perfect Finish

I have the wash and clay down and this is for my personal vehicle.
Being an 05 and black the paint is not horrible but has some lighter scratches. So after reading some back posts it is confirmed that that the rotary will give a much brighter shine but does leave holograms. So if I go this route

1.) Dewalt rotary- 83 with and 8000 pad
    2.) Dewalt - 80 with 8000
    3.) PC -80 with 8000 pad
    4.)Tech wax

The PC will not dull or take away what the rotary achieved when I follow up will it?

I dont think customers will pay for that kind of work to their exterior. That is a god awful lot of polishing. Good thing I only wax my roof(LOL). Also bottom trip is silver and tech wax always does the job so it may not be so bad.

I will say I have never achieved that finsih without waxing over my job and that wax is only temporary.

#80 with a PC will leave an ultra clear, ultra glossy finish on most paints but there's always the possibility of running into an unusual case where the paint just doesn't respond like others. It couldn't hurt to keep either #9 or #82 handy just in case you come across a finish that needs really minimal cut.

#83 tends to break down well with a rotary. I doubt you'll need to follow it with #80/rotary before going to the #80/PC, not over the whole car anyway. Also note, using 8" pads with the PC reduces cutting efficiency. They'll work but if you're trying to remove holograms I think you'll probably be happier with the 6.5" 8006 pads on a PC.

Every finish is different though, so it pays to do test spots to dial in a combo for the specific vehicle and to stand back and check your work often.

As an individual craftsman detailer you're competing on quality, not price. There are always customers looking for "the best deal" (and bottom feeders who will work cheap) but customers who are looking for first class results and superior service understand that you get what you pay for.

    PC.
