Bonnet?

Hello Everyone,

just wanted to ask some of you about the bonnet for g100....

Do some of you prefer MF or terry Bonnet?

Have some of you have tried diff brands and now have a preference?Names please or who sells and best deals (but no links)

Have any of you had isssues with bonnets?(for example fraying)

How many bonnets do you have on hand for an suv,trucks?

Or do most of you just wipe off by hand still?

Have any of you seen better results using a bonnet then by hand?

Do the bonnets fill up fast for example on one panel?

please add any thoughts or suggestion?

I have Meguiars Ultimate Bonnets and I wouldn't give them up for anything! I know Meguiars has changed over to microfiber bonnets I am sure they are just as good if not better than the UB's

I use it to remove wax, never polishes or cleaners just to big of a pain. As for wax it does an excellent job of removing it! For my Lightning I use 2 both sides. I have 3 on hand just in case I need an extra or drop one. When they "load up" it gets more difficult to remove the wax and leaves a smeary/hazy look!?!?

I wash mine in the washing machine with Woolite and they seem to hold up well, I have about 5-6 uses on mine and 5-6 washes still look like new.

If you don't have any bonnets, its time to get some! IMO they leave a slightly deeper looking finish with NXT.

I just used a MF bonnet (from Sonus, I believe, I got it for free with a promotion) for the first time two weeks ago to reomve #26 off my truck. I slipped it over a burgandy Meg's pad. These things were sitting in my garage for months before I finally opened them and used them and i Must say... WOW! I can't believe I waited this long to use them. I used two bonnets, but not because I saw them getting filled up with wax, mainly just to be safe. Anyways, it made the wax removal job much easier. I did go back over it to get some parts by hand that I missed with the machine, but it was still so much easier! Autogeek sells bonnets in a pack of 6 for $13, I believe. They're normally ~2/$7. Pick up a couple of them (in any brand), I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I tend to use 2 per average vehicle. I use 1 for Hood then Drivers side of vehicle then front grill/bumper. Then I use another for Roof then Passenger side then Rear Bumper.


I used to just use 1 and flip it over about half way but someone on here pointed out that "if" I happened to have any possible contamintes on the 7006 pad before flipping, I just exposed my finish to it. So I started using 2 bonnets. Don' find it to be any hassle.

I keep about 8 around but only use about 2 per Wax/Sealant removal. usually there are 2-4 in the dirty rag bin waiting for wash day, I keep 2 on hand and have an unopened pack waiting in the wings. For clean up, when I am done with them, I lightly mist with APC and toss in he dirty rag basket. This seems to presoak the wax/sealant and it comes off fine. I wash with most of my other MFs. I wash once in hot water with no soap as all my fabrics get premoistened with APC. usually they are very clean by this time. Then I rewash with woolite and dry in the dryer on regular.

I use the older Ultimate Bonnets (they're also MF, BTW) and some from other sources. I like them. I use bonnets over 7006/cutting pads and as mentioned, I don't flip them over, I get out a fresh one when I need to. On the PC/G-100 I use speed 4.

I generally use a combination of bonnets and by-hand wiping. One or the other first and then the other as a follow-up.

I did an Audi A8 with #16 the other day and buffed it off with the Ultimate Bonnets. I used two, but could've got by with just one. Neither bonnet was visibly soiled/loaded with wax, they both appeared unused at the end of the job. But note that I put my LSPs on much thinner than most people. IT turned out so nice I didn't even bother with the by-hand wiping.

I guess I am getting better as I usually remove with machine and used to follow up with hand removal. For the past few weeks I have been able to skip the hand removal. I usually try to wait till the next day to touch it anymore so the wax will have a longer cure time before I go around and look for and remove anything I may have gotten in the cracks and such. I found that if I did this right after removing the wax I was a little more prone to making marks where I was trying to remove access wax. I would use the Triple duty detail brush and make a scratchmark here and there if I use right after removing the wax. So the 24 hour wait seems to help.

Yeah, and besides the products setting up some more, sometimes things go better just because you're approaching the job "fresh" instead of after a lot of other work.

I use meguiar's gc mf bonnet on my g100...It's great..it's reversable and machine washable. I used it to take off all the tech wax I put on and ya know how tech wax doesn't leave residue all over the place and I only put a thin layer on. It picks up the product pretty well and it's fast....I still us a ss mf to get little missed spots tho...I recommend you get the gc mf bonnet if you have a g100 you'll be happy you did. I've never used a terry bonnet before. I only have the gc mf bonnets.
