  • PC 7335 Questions

Hi everyone! I've been reading the forums for a bit, but first post for me!

I've recently purchased a black 2002 Honda S2000. It looks like the previous owner dried the car with sandpaper. There are very defined horizontal clearcoat scratches along the entire length of the car. Automatic carwash, possibly??? I've been fighting these by hand with ScratchX, but that's a slow and uphill battle. I'll take any excuse to buy more power tools, and I think this is the perfect one!

I have a family member that works at a local hardware store and can score a deal on a PC 7335. From the PC website, it looks like this is the 5" sander configuration. I saw a link on these forums for a Meguiars package which has the W64DA backing plate and 3 pads. Will that be all I need to convert over to use the 6" pads? I saw somewhere that there are also different (what looked like) counterweights associated with each pad diameter... can anyone fill me in here?

    Thanks!
    Ryan

    Well first welcome to MOL!

If you go with the DA Velcro Buffing System (I think its part number WDAV99 not W64DA) you will have all you need. The counter weights make little to no difference. Here is a link on counter weights. The PC is a well worth investment!

Because you never want to combine products on a pad, we’ve assembled this set of one W64DA Backing Plate and three 6.5” polishing pads: two polishing pads and one finishing pad. These pads fit our Dual Action Polisher.

gb387, great thread on the weight comparison! My bad on the p/n.. you are right.

Mike, thanks for the links! I recently bought a bottle of #80 to try by hand (after a thorough wash and clay), but didn't see the results I was looking for. I'm interested to see what the PC can do with #80.. if the scratches still aren't cleaned up, I'll spring for a bottle of #83.

Can you spot-apply #83 to particular sections or is it best to apply to the entire finish for evenness? I would follow up with #80 to the whole car after the #83 application.

        Any thoughts?
