  • model # for the DA

Just received my DA from ADS today.

    Question:

Label says: Porter Cable, Model 7335, Type 2, etc.

It has two Maguiar's black stick on lables on the sides. Came in a Meguiar's G100 labelled box.

This is correct, right? Paper work only says 1 year warranty.

Seems like the right unit, just want to make sure.

    Thanks.

If you ordered it from Rick@ ADS you messed up...lol just kidding

on a serious note your ok one if you order from Rick then you got the lifetime warranty plus you stated it has the megs logo on the polisher plus it came in the megs box.....i didnt read mine yet just got it but i think that manufacture warranty but meg is a aftermarket warranty...so your good beside from what i hear you shouldnt have any problems with this machine as long as you take care of it and dont intentionally try to damage it....hope this helps....and Congrats on the G-100 know go start polish

Mmmmm very strange, it's always been said that the Porter Cable 7424 and the G-100 were the same the G-100 just being re-branded Meguiar's.

It doesn't look like that is the case as my G-100 which I thought was a 7424 is also labelled 7335.

When you look at Porter Cable the 7424 is listed as a polisher whereas the 7335 is listed as a sander.

They are obviously 2 dif machines for 2 dif operations otherwise there would be no reason to make both.

Could I ask that Meguiar's, possibly Mike P, clear this up please.

Also what are your G-100's labelled as?

It also says that the 7424 is 6" and the 7335 is a 5", here are a couple of links: -

As far as I know, the G100 Meguiar's sells has the Meguiar's label on the unit. I'll see if I can find out what's up with the unit Rick's selling.

Thanks for the fast reply Mike.

The G-100 does indeed have the Meguiar's label on it.

          The spec label says: -

          Model 7335
          5" HD VARIABLE SPEED
          RANDOM ORBIT SANDER
          120V AC 3.7A 2500-6000 OPM
          DOUBLE INSULATED
          TYPE 2 SER NO 220295 A 5052

The above is set out EXACTLY as it is on the label.

I have just tried to call customer services but they are closed at the moment.

          Thanks again

              We get about eh

The link only shows 7336SP and the 7424, no mention of the 7335!

              Bryan

PS I've had another scoot about the site and the 7335 IS listed as a 5" sander and can only be accessed by selecting "SANDERS"...........the 7424 is listed as a 6" POLISHER and can only ne accessed under POLISHER.

So will pads and accessories bought thinking it was a re-badged 7424 fit as it's only 5" as opposed to the 7424 which is a 6".

                    Gee this is complicated eh

                    Bryan

PS what size are the backing plates, mine (7335) is 43/4" or 120mm?

everything fits fine, there all the same, the only difference is the little counter weight which is supposed to reduce shake on larger pads (i.e 5 weight for 5" pads and 6 weight for 6" pads), but i have both weights and can assure you theres no difference in pad/ plate and counterweight combos

OK that'll do for me although I have the No5 weight and it says "use only 5" pads" although I don't think that's makes much dif as people seem to use what suits them even 8" pads.................so how come you have both the 7335 & 7424?

And there is no dif in the operation/vibration when using with either weight and any type/size of pad yeah?
