  • Porter Cable Noobie....

I've been reading so much good stuff about the PC, that I went out and got one! I got the model 7424, which is as I understand it, the same one sold by Meguiars. I just finished ordering the velcro backing plate and pads through Megs Canada today. Now for my question. Is the PC pad that came with the polisher any good? By that I mean, is it safe to use on my good cars, or even my daily driver? My initial thought was to use it on my daily to practice with the PC, before getting near my Mustangs. What do you guys think? Is the white PC pad okay for say, a cleaner wax practice session on my daily car?

    Thanks!

I tried to use that pad that came with the PC when I first got mine too. But DON'T. It didn't harm my finish any, but for some reason, the material that its made of soaks up everything like a sponge! including waxes polishes and anything else you might apply with it. My advice is to just go and get the Meguiars pads and backing plate and be done with it. don't even bother with the "stock" pad. its not worth your time.

I've heard others say that they make good frisbees.
