Hey been saving change for a PC. Saw a Porter-Cable 7424 and a PC 7336pc. They look the same. And what do I need to go with these? Maybe save enough for the G-100A.
The PC 7424 and the 7336 are essentially the same machine. There are two key differences though that have very little to do with the way they function though. The 7424 includes a 5" counterweight for use with 5" backing plates and is marketed as a polisher. The 7336 has a 6" counterweight and can use a 6" backing plate. The difference between the two counterweights is not noticable during operation no matter what size backing plate you use.
The G-100 or G-100A is pretty much a PC 7424, except that it comes with a meguiar's backing plate and W-8006 pad and the insurace of a no questions asked lifetime warranty. If you plan on using it for more than a couple years the warranty is great.
I have the 7424 - Porter Cable calls that a "Polisher", comes with an cheapo polishing pad no backing plate and a 5" counter weight.

Porter Cable calls the 7336 a "Sander" comes with a backing plate (hook and loop? not to sure on that one) and sometime you can find it with the cheapo polishing pad as well. This has a 6" counter weight.
Machines are the same just different numbers, the counter weights make no difference in the performance of the machine.
Either way you will need to get: DA Velcro Buffing System You don't want to use the pad that is with the PC.

Travis had a good point.... now that I have my PC and wouldn't give it up for anything I wish I had bought the G100 just for the warranty alone.
