I have a random orbital waxer with 3200 rpm fixed speed. It has polish/wax applicator bonnets with elastic that stretch over the foam pad. The wax applicator bonnets have a thin canvas-like feel to them. The bonnet for wax removal is like terry cloth. I also have a soft buffer bonnet. I think everything came from Walmart. Can I safely use this combination with Maguires polish/wax products? Also, is this old school polisher still a valid machine for todays auto finishes? I recently bought my wife a new Lexus RX350 and a new Mini Cooper Countryman for myself so I want to start a good cleaning/waxing regiment. That is why I joined this Maguires forum. In the past I used various (whatever I saw at Walmart) products so have no experience with Maguires other than a wash soap. I have a lot to learn.

Re: Old School Equipment. Is it still valid?
First, welcome to MOL. With two new cars to maintain, a DA polisher would be a great asset for you. You will also need a number of pads, clay bars, and polish/ wax/ sealant. There is plenty of good advice on this forum for you take in. Proper washing is also a must.
Good luck with your new cars.

Welcome to Meguiar's Online! Agreed with Sunday Joe, if you would like to use a machine, a dual action polisher is the way to go like Meguiar's MT300. Here are a couple articles below to get you going. Looking forward to seeing your questions & posts in the forum community.

Re: Old School Equipment. Is it still valid?
Thanks Joe. Yes, I would like to have a DA polisher in the future, but for now I need to know if what I have is ok for awhile. I’m mainly concerned with the “bonnets” described. They seem to be quite different from what is now used.
