MT300, which pad will work best for swirls on dealer installed swirls :( Foam or MF

Picked up my all new 2018 VW Tiguan SEL Premium today in deep black pearl, even though i told them to stay away from any automatic carwash machines before delivering, it went unheeded, & when i went to pick it up, it was covered head to toe in freaking swirls.

I have an MT300, which admittedly I bought when they first came out over 2yrs ago, however, i've never really put it through its paces, as my cars have always pretty much been new & defect free. I've always told the dealer to NEVER WASH the car when in for a service and maintenance, and its worked out great.. With regular claying & regular waxing, and D115 more or less every week, it has allowed my autos to remain swirl free and clean as a whistle !! Really the only time i've had to pull out the MT300 is when using it on my wife's car where she failed to address a bird dropping. For waxing i kinda prefer doing it by hand... Anyway, all that has now changed now that I'm a black car owner, and i've got an entire auto covered in swirls that i need to address.

Along with the MT300, I've got the Meguiars foam maroon colored pads, and the yellow polishing pad. and of course the black for waxing.. and Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax

i've noticed Megs now do a microfiber DMC5 pad and new D300 Correction Compound.... Looking at the pic below, am i better off buying the new MF pads and some D300 Correction Compound, or am i ok using what i already have ? which is the maroon 'foam' pad & Megs Ultimate Compound.

Why is MF better than foam ? is it even better ? What produces the better results on black pearl paint?

Start off with a polishing pad and ultimate polish. If you need more correction jump to the cutting pad and ultimate compound.

Microfiber pads cut more than foam. But can leave more DA haze/micro marring behind which can be cleaned up with a polishing step. It is not necessarily better but it corrects faster.

If you do need more correction you can order the microfiber cutting pads and D300.

Yellow polishing pad with ultimate polish was enough to get rid of the same swirls on my new car. Different brand, different paint so obviously YMMV. It's a good place to start i think.

I would hope on a new vehicle you do not need more cut than our Soft Buff DA Foam Cutting Disc paired with Ultimate Compound but, then again, I have used our microfiber cutting disc with aggressive compounds many times on newer cars.

I would recommend similar to others, perform a test spot, & start with:

Ultimate Polish via Soft Buff DA Yellow Foam Polishing Disc DFP5

next up if the above does not remove the defects to your satisfaction would be:

Ultimate Compound via a separate, clean, Soft Buff DA Yellow Foam Polishing Disc DFP5 (if this combination works it would be recommended to follow with Ultimate Polish via Soft Buff DA Black Foam Finishing Disc prior to applying a wax)

next up if the above does not remove the defects to your satisfaction would be:

Ultimate Compound via Soft Buff DA Red Foam Cutting Disc DFC5 (if this combination works it would be recommended to apply Ultimate Polish via a Soft Buff DA Yellow Foam Polishing Disc DFP5 prior to applying a wax)

though I agree with test spots and starting least aggressive and working up...my go to is M205 over UP. I have 2 bottles of UP because I thought the 1st bottle was "defective" as I tend to get a lot of smearing after polishing with UP. I will admit, UP looks great if using a IPA wipe down to clean up after polishing, but at times, I am too lazy. I find M205 to remove defects better but still polish and provide a nice shine. It takes out DA haze and shines all in one. When we purchased my wife's sienna se in black mica silica (or something like that...has a nice blue flake in it) M205 on a MF polish pad made the car look better then new (car had 8 miles on it when we took it home).

Thanks all to the replies. Got the car paintwork looking and feeling like it should.

Did a D114 as an initial waterless wash. Then a clay and quick detailer, got the paint slick and smooth. Then used Ultimate Polish and the yellow foam pad on the MT300 at 5800rpm. Once all wiped off (didn't use an IPA mix, just a microfiber and some elbow grease) Finished up with a complete wax using Ultimate Wax, which admittedly isn't my favorite wax, but while i was on a Meguiars roll, i thought why not. Car is looking awesome. Paint is a joy to slide my finger over. Glass smooth. D170 on the tires, and D156 on the rims, inside and exterior. But i went AWOL with the glass cleaner. Used perfect glass instead of D120 Sorry
