  • DA claying pad & Quick Change Pads

After reviewing several online products, I came across a clay pad applicator to be used with PC 7424 (G-100). It seems like a great idea. I am posting the link to the product only to make it easier for people to comment.

This same link also discusses quick change pads requiring no backing plate which also seems useful.

I need to buy some pads and would like comments.

While the concept appears to be sound, there is a fundamental flaw in regards to machine claying. There is a very high potential of marring/scratching. Since it is very difficult to feel what the clay is picking up under the machine, as well as not being able to tell if it is well lubricated, you risk instilling scratches and marring on the surface. One nice thing about claying by hand is you can "feel" what the clay is removing. By using a machine, you lose this ability.

I tried one of these and while the idea looks interesting, here are some thoughts on the topic,

        3. I found that if you move the pad over the down slope of a fender or hood, (start to go from horizontal to vertical surface, the clay bar will fall to the floor, or fly to the floor, it's too easy for it to escape the foam enclosure.

Most of all, it's just to easy to clay by hand...

          Mike,

Could you comment on my question regarding the quick change pads as opposed to the Velcro pads.

            Hi rdenistoe,

I have not personally ever used the Edge Buffing System so I cannot comment on it.
