W68DA and W67DA, difference?

There is two backing plate for DA offered by Meguiar's, one is W68DA, another is W67DA. It seems like W68DA only fit 7" pad, where as W67DA fits 6.5" and 7" pad.
Some questions:
1) Other than the fit of pad size, what else differences exist between these two backing plates?
2) Since W67DA can fit 6.5" and 7" pad, can I say W67DA more versatile than the W68DA, since one can use two kind of pad size where as another one just can use one size pad?
3) Does Meguiar's has other DA backing plate for other size of pad, such as 5.5" pad, 3" pad?

I think I should also add that if I wish to use the Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System, what backing plate can be used? W68DA or W67DA?

Oh there are two? I am more inclined on the 5". Smaller pad get more cutting power.

After I read through it, what I can understand is the W67DA has a different hook and loop system then the W68DA.
Since I plan to use Soft Buff 2.0 cutting, polishing and finishing pad most of the time, I think I have to go with W68DA, there is just simply no other choice if Soft Buff 2.0 pad was to be used. The article also highlight that if use W67DA on Soft Buff 2.0 pad, the edge of the plate will soon cut into the pad. Ok I this is a very obvious NO for anyone trying to use Soft Buff 2.0 7" pads.

What I understand from the article about the difference of the Soft Buff and Soft Buff 2.0 is also on the hook and loop system.

It seems like I cannot save on this and have to purchase another dedicated pad for the DMAF system otherwise I risk damaging my tool.

W67DA works great with the 5" DAMF system. I use 5.5" foam pads as well with this backing plate with no issues.

Your observations here are spot on. It is extremely important that the correct backing plate be used with the correct pads, yet most people tend to overlook the importance of this.

We recommend the 5" microfiber discs for use on a traditional DA tool (G110v2, PC7424, Griot's 6", etc) and that requires our W67DA backing plate. This plate also works well with our older 6" Soft Buff pads or the appropriately sized foam pads from Lake Country and others, but is not recommended for use with our Soft Buff 2.0 pads. Our Soft Buff 2.0 pads (with the loop material recessed and laminated to the back of the pad) require our W68DA backing plate, which ships with the G110v2 buffer.
