I can't see the pics. Is it just me?

*EDIT* just had a look at the links. They look ok - I wonder how those specs compare to those of the Rupes?

I also wonder how long they would last...

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Wow! They've really improved on the Rupes machines here. One of the models says it has a 210mm orbit! You can do half a car at a time.....

Anything made in china, I'm sorry but is just pure garbage. Obviously if its made in the USA it will last for years upon years. Along with German made tools as well. How as a country and a man can china actually be proud of the tools or any product they make for that matter? Yes it may be cheaper but u get what u pay for. Essentially encouraging this throw away society. Spend the extra $50-$100. And buy a real quality tool and it will last a lifetime taking all abuse u throw at it.

Those days are history. Trivia: Do you know where the iPhone is made? Megs DA?

The problem is when China reverse engineers a good engineered product, cheapens it, and turns it to $#!+.

p.s. I wouldn't buy a car made in china, regardless of who engineered it.

                  Hello Griot's Gen 4 Polisher!

I think we can all say that we wouldn't choose cheap products over well built expensive machines, but for some people, they don't really have the need, or choice. I own a Griot's Garage Gen 3 polisher, I have lost count of how long I've run the thing, and have not had one problem with it. It is just a Chinese as the this one for sure, yet like it or not, China's products are improving, and Chinese products have found there way into almost every product in some form or another.
I am sure it will not be as good as the Rupes, but I bet it will be better than my current polisher, allowing a very capable tool to be accessible to a large demographic.

                  Just my thoughts!

LOL...if it was Canada, it would likely cost too much.

Btw...there are several Ansiauto polishers available on Amazon.com...think they ship directly from China....

                      Everything is made in China.
My latest purchase a German branded high pressure washer, straight from China.

I try to avoid food from China, high in lead, asbestos, sulfur and formaldehyde. Soon to have trans fat.

Re: New Chinese DA 21mm (Rupes Copy)

There is a big difference between "made in China" and "designed and made in China". When I was a kid the big joke was stuff stamped "made in Japan" because it was all considered to be junk. Those days are long gone. Most of the quality issues that still exist with products "made in China" seem to be those items designed there, or designed specifically to be knock offs of popular products made elsewhere in the world. As Stephen points out, Apple products are "made in China", but the big difference is that they are designed here and then manufactured in a facility that is heavily controlled by Apple from a tech standpoint. And that makes all the difference in the world. Apple fans are among the most brand loyal consumers you can find, and that isn't going to happen if the product is junk.

Many auto makers are now building cars in China, but those cars were designed by the engineering teams in the US, Germany, etc and the assembly is being done under controlled conditions by the parent company. Compare that to China specific brands that are designed and built in China with the goal to begin export to the rest of the world. One of those brands tried to get into Europe not too long ago but they failed all the required crash test requirements. And failed miserably. They packed up and left Europe with the plan to regroup and try again.

It wasn't all that long ago that Hyundai was looked upon as a very cheap Korean brand - the cars lacked style, they lacked quality (big time). Well, those days are gone, too. Their quality has skyrocketed and their styling is generally considered some of the best in the business. That is shocking progress in less than a decade. But they've brought in "experts" from around the world to help them turn things around, and it's worked. And can you say "Samsung"?

Now it appears to be China's turn to take a stab at fulfilling the wants and desires of the consumer. They can offer crazy low prices, but the still sometimes struggle with the engineering and design aspects, especially when their goal is to make a quick buck. But you can say that about any company in any country - if a quick buck is all they want, they won't succeed in the long run. If they do things right, however, watch out.

The part that bothers me about products like this is the unethical nature of taking a design that someone else spent months or years on and just copying it. Even if one of the major tool companies were building their product side by side with these and using the same parts, they would still have to charge more to recoup the engineering cost. It is a shame that these companies will just take the work done by someone else and steal it for their own financial gain. There are laws against that here, but from what I understand, China will protect their own companies stealing designs of a company from somewhere else. I feel that these products that blatantly violate other companies patents should be hit with a massive import tariff.

Re: New Chinese DA 21mm (Rupes Copy)

There is no doubt many products in Asia are very similar to products that are produced in other countries. Sometimes it may even simply be a copy.

In the case of these two polishers

One of them is designed by a company who makes the polishers for Griots Garage.

Rupes was the first to come out with a large throw DA polisher. But that doesn't mean other polisher or tool manufacturers can't go and make their own large throw polisher. I do find it funny that they also made it 21mm out of all numbers

According to Ansiauto, their internal design is different from the Rupes 21.

Now I can't prove this right now. But they do have a more powerful motor. And the internals are likely not exactly like the Rupes

What is similar to the Rupes is the overall shape of the polisher and the counter weight.

I guess I'll find out soon.

The polisher from MaxShine looks nothing like the Rupes 21. It seems like they took their basic DA design and just pumped it with some steroids to up the throw.

It seems like the professionals and the industry has shown manufacturers that a larger throw is just as important in correction than rotational speed or torque. So I wouldn't be surprised if you will eventually see all polishers start to increase in throw.

Before the Rupes 21 we were all happy with your GG6s and Flex VRGs.

I'm just waiting for Flex to jump on the large throw bandwagon.

Like mike said there's a difference when it's controlled by a parent comp. the product is alot better. Sine apple or meguiars isn't gonna just throw complete **** out there. However there also is another comparison as with ur apple products. How long do ur actual products really last? Usually the stuff turns into **** within 2 years or so. U look back in the early days of when things made in the us. We're made in Chicago since that was the hubb of the us at the time. However back when something made in 1900still works today.where china it may last a few years if lucky. Point is 100 years from now u won't see products that were made today cuz it's made so cheaply.
