  • Purchasing Professional Dual Action Polisher - Foam pads or new MF System?

Purchasing a DA Polisher. With focus on the end result and process of getting to the Meguiar's perfect shine & protection what benefits are there with foam pads and product versus microfiber 2 step system? From other threads I have read it seems like a wax would be a third step in the MFDA system for added protection.

the benefit is in using the mf pads and not the foam.
the mf system will cut your paint very well, leave a great finish and the finishing wax is awesome.
you only need to do the cut and finish wax

What do think about using a MF when applying D151. D151 sounds to good to be true.

Get the full DAMF system. The MF pads work really well and can take less passes to correct an area. You can always top off the finishing wax with something like ultimate wax for added protection. Meguiar's also introduced D302 polish this year for the DAMF system which can be followed by any wax/sealant of your choice instead of using the finishing wax.

Hi and welcome to Meguiar's Online Ryan! Glad to hear your stepping up to a DA polisher! Which model are you selecting?

As for the pads, for a new polisher user, I believe foam would be safer and more forgiving. That's where I started, now I use the microfiber pads for heavy cutting, but I still use foam pads to finish up the paint, as I like the foam medium for polishing.

Ghawk thanks for the tip and the welcome. I am looking at the G110V2, unless there is another recommended model. I have been using an orbital buffer for the past 14 years and ready for an upgrade.

The G110V2 is a great buffer! It is very similar to the Porter Cable polisher. I use another variation of the Porter Cable under the Griot's Garage brand name. I have used both the Porter Cable and mine and can say they perform very similar. You can't go wrong with any of them, and they are all quite a step up from a orbital!

If you have any questions about the whole process as you start polishing, this is the place for answers!
