How long do your MF DA polishing pads last?

I've done about 6 or 7 cars with my DA polishing kit - the pads don't stick to the backing plate anymore, and the Velcro in the center of the backing plate has seemingly melted off (I use a Gross Garage DA). Do I need new pads/backing plate? I've washed the pads in a washing machine, maybe that has damaged the ability for the pads to stick...
