  • Life expectancy of DA Power Pack pads

A few months ago I purchased a DA Power Pack and the 3 pads to go along with it. I washed all my pads before the first use as per the instructions in the washing machine. I then did a section of my truck and re washed the pads. After this I did another car completely and washed them again. thats when I noticed that on one of the pads the velcro backing was starting to peel off and on another pad it was completly gone.

So were talking one and half vehicles and 3 washes and 2 of my four pads are finished. Is this normal? In Canada we can only purchase the pads at canadian tire and they only car the package with one pad and the small bottle of product. I really dont want to have to keep buying these sing pads and bottles everytime I use the tool since ive also purchased them in larger sizes. Besides this my opinion of the tool has been awesome but with such short pad life im becomming very hesitant about continuing to use it.

How are you taking the pad off the tool?
You should not be pulling from the foam portion.

My pads have been in 4 washes so far and they are perfectly fine.

I was always careful to grab the pad by the Velcro and carefully pull off

What kind of soaps are you using? How are you drying them? buff side down/velcro side up?

washing machines do help destroy Velcro but it's more about the heat you generate while working. It's a combination of both. So watch you working time/pressure. Wash your pads by hand and that should make them last longer.

I actually washed them with delicate unscented un-everything soap for new burns and threw them in dryer as stated in the instructions. I know they won't last forever but to be finished after a couple washes seems absurd. As for heat build up I'm doing very small sections at a time with a thorough break in between

You don't be so aggressive with cleaning a pad.
A little APC and a bucket of water will do just fine.
Get some pad cleaner if you want a dedicated cleaner but APC has worked on pads for decades.
