I've seen the DA polisher videos and also read on the Microfiber correction system guide, that you would do 2-3 moderate pressure passes with a compound and then finish it with 2-3 light pressure passes before finishing the correction step. What is the purpose of this light pressure follow-up?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxwlWijdIxM (5:30 starting and also at 8:10) He stated that the polishing step is followed with light pressure passes.

Re: Purpose of 2-3 light pressure passes after moderate pressure pass
The abrasives in those compounds are micro so very small. It's like using sandpaper on a piece of wood. The harder you push the more material you remove. By lightening up you still get the same micro abrasion but it digs down less producing a finer finish. You might also compare it to scrubbing dried food off a baked on pan. The harder you push with the scrubbie the more you take off.
