  • questions about m205 m7 speed and polishing pads

I finally got around to getting out my new GV110v2. I washed the car and used a mild clay bar with m34 Final Inspection. Everything is taped off and ready to go. I've never done this before, so I've been paying close attention to the forum thread [url]http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?45702-D-A-Buffing-101-

Re: questions about m205 m7 speed and polishing pads

The question i was trying to ask is whether or not I need to buy Soft Buff 2.0 pads? The DA that I got came with 2 W8006 pads and 1 W9006 pad. Can I use M205 and M7 with the w8006 pads? and then use m21 with the w9006 pads? did they stop making the pads that came with my da? Do i need a new backing plate to use the 2.0 pads? What speed should I use when using m205 and m7?

Not sure about the backing plate... but the newer pads can be machine washed.

You just have to be a bit more carefull cleaning out your pads after you use them, doing them by hand, trying not to get the velcro too wet. But can be reglued if needed.

That is not a whole lot of pads though.. you may find it works better to use 1 8006 pad for#205 on half the car, then half with the other. Then either do #7 by hand, or skip it this time around.

You would be around 4-5 I think on the V2 machine for cleaning (#205). Polishing and waxing can be done at a lower speed.
