    O.K., heres what I have

    Clay Bars

    M8301 Dual Action Cleaner Polisher

    M8001 Speed Glaze

    NXT Tech Wax

    Gold Class Paste Wax

    PC 7424

    (1) W7006 Burgundy Soft foam Cutting Pad

    (1) W9006 Tan Soft Buff Finishing Pad

    (2) W8006 Yellow Soft Polishing Pad

I've searched the fourm for the answers and I'm sure the they're out there but i must be typing the wrong stuff in the search box

Working on a 1963 Nova that was painted 12 years ago, 2 stage, I've bought the car right after it was painted and have maintained it pretty good, it looks good I'm just trying to get a bit more depth and shine on the finish.

My understanding is the burgundy pad shouldn't be used with the PC 7424 so would it work if I were to do the following in this order?

    Clay

Use yellow pad with the 8301 cleaner polisher

Use other yellow pad with the 8001 speed glaze

Then either use the tan finishing pad with the NXT Tech Wax, or hand wax with the gold class paste wax

If the above is fine what speeds would be best for each step?

Thanks in advance for any advice

    Re: Newbie Questions

Bill, if the paint is in pretty good shape right now, you may not even need the M83 as M80 could do the job on it's own. It won't offer quite as much cut as the M83 but in so many cases, it's more than sufficient to remove light swirls. Plus, the polishing oils in it do a great job of boosting gloss and depth of color. Definitely start off with a test spot using M80 first and see where that gets you. Use the yellow polishing pad with the DA set at speed 5, and use moderate pressure while keeping the pad as flat as possible to maintain some rotation. It doesn't need to spinning fast, but it should be spinning. Keep your work area down to no more than 2' x 2' and move the tool very slowly across the paint in overlapping strokes. Follow up with your wax, just as you described. Just make sure to lay the wax down as thin as possible and let it dry fully before wipe off. And don't forget to take pictures!

You're right about staying away from the burgundy cutting pad on the DA; it's aggressive enough that we often see it creating a haze in the paint, and that usually requires a second pass with the yellow pad to remove the haze.
