  • Can you use a DA on a car with decals?

I recently just purchased my first DA and used it on my car for the first time with very pleasing results. At work we are getting hand me down cars from another division within my agency and they will be basically clean (washed) but not much else done to them except for new decals.

My question is, can you use a DA on a car that will have several large decals all over the surface? My goal is to clean the paint, remove as much of the existing swirl and former decal marks and then polish and wax the vehicles.

Can this be done safely or will I be forced to do this all by hand?

This may not be the answer you're looking for. I have decals/stickers etc on my tool boxes, once a year I use cleaner/wax (A-12) with an LC white pad with no problem. Some of these decals have been on for 20+ years.

Mind you these are NOT the 'water soak' type, but 'peel and stick'.
