  • Marring issues on almost new 2012 Maxima (Black) need help fast!

First tried white LC pad, setting 5 on a PC, and M105. Makes the small scratches disappear but leaving lots of micro-marring. Then tried UC and switched to a blue finishing pad with same results with both products. Need help!!!!

    Thanks

This is typical if your paint is on the softer side. M105 or Ultimate Compound are strong cleaner polishes. You remove the heavy swirls and defects but leave behind micro-marring. In order to solve the issue, you need to use a less aggressive finishing polish such as M205 or Ultimate Polish with a softer foam pad such as the W9207 Softbuff 2.0 Finishing Pad or LC black finishing pad.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

I forgot to mention that you also usually dial down the speed when using a finishing polish to like speed 4 or something.

Ooops I meant to say M205. I was in a rush. I tried with the blue pad and M66 just now with the same marring issue. Am i doing something wrong? Any technique suggestions?

I slowed it down to 4 but I'm still getting marring about 50% of what it was with the blue and the m66. Is ultimate polish even less abrasive than what i'm using?

Ultimate Polish is less abrasive than M205 so you can try that. If that still marrs the paint, you can try colorX with a foam applicator pad by hand. Check out the article I posted above on how to approach very delicate paint.

Ult. Polish maybe, A12 Cleaner/wax maybe, working by hand maybe. Or a combination of those.

I just waxed it good and was done with it.

Is it normal on some soft paints to have to do the whole car by hand? Seems crazy a brand new car would be done like that.

It does seem to be bizarrely soft... perhaps someone else here has worked on a 2012 black Maxima?
