G110v2 used one laster summer, kept in storage now doesn't work

If you can't tell by the title. I'm a little bit pissed off right now. I paid some where around $170+ for this polisher. I used it one time last summer. Kept it in a heated/air conditioned room for a year in it's original bag.

Wash my car today and plug it in. I worked as I applied it to half of the cars roof.

I walked around to the other side and it stopped working. WTF? Is this a piece of ****?

Also I read about maintenance of replacing the brushes on this thing. YET I DON"T SEE THEM ON THE INTERNET TO BUY! Another WTF!

1.) What can I do to make it work again? are they really this fragile?
2.) can this brush piece be purchased anywhere? Or was this some inside joke at Meguiar's?

Just call the customer service number at meguiars before venting....megs service is top notch
Btw...were there not any spare brushes that came with your G110v2?
I'm pretty sure Meguiars can hook you up with some brushes....but it may not be your brushes, it could be the power cord

It came with an extra set. I placed them in. On a side note the little piece you unscrew broke in half. So I held it togather as I screwed it back in. Still no work. Must be the power cord.

I just finished waxing by hand. Yea!

You didn't store your cord at an extreme angle coming out of the back of the unit, did you? If so, that could break it. If memory serves, the power cords tend to be a bit fragile.

I stored It in its original bag with the cord loosely placed in it. Feeling a bit screwed.

Casey, we're truly sorry to hear of this failure with your buffer. If you haven't done so already, please contact our Customer Care Center at 800.347.5700 and they will gladly replace the tool for you. It does indeed sound as though the power cord failed - this was a some time issue with the tool but this has been completely resolved now. The replacement tool we send you will be from the latest production run and you won't have this issue again.

Called and Rick from Meguiars gave me the address to mail by defective version. Glad this is a no hassle process.

Had that problem like 3 weeks ago. Bought the DA from Amazon about a year or so ago, used it like 6 times last year and it worked fine. This year, for my first real detail of the season brought it out and it didn't work. Changed the brushes, still nothing but then worked if I held the cord at an angle. Called Customer Care and Nick answered. Told him the story said it sounded like the cord and told me to send it in. Took about a week to send it in and get a new one back from Megs. Truly top notch customer care!

Hey Mr Stoops, I have the latest model G110V2 purchased from ADS last month, since I live in Canada, how would I go about getting service for my DA.....nothing wrong with my unit but just want to know what to do. Also i cannot find the required brushes online, or is that something I order from Megs customer care?

Phil, the buffer should have had a second set of brushes packaged with it - let me know if it doesn't. If you purchased the tool from ADS, should you ever have an issue with it, you should contact them directly.

Mailed my buffer back today. $24. And change.

Rick said they would give me pads to match the shipping price.

Also, where CAN we buy new brushes and what do they do?

The brushes are actually a fairly common part and shouldn't cost more than about $20 for a pair. They are a typical wear item on all electric motors used in power tools, and they should last in the range of 400 hours of use. Replacement is as simple as unscrewing the caps on the side of the tool, at which point they will basically just fall out, along with their attached springs. Simply drop the new one in and close the screw on cap.

This brief Wikipedia article will give you some insight into just how these function in an electric motor, and the image used in the article shows brushes very similar to the ones used in most power tools, including ours.
