Problem with MF cutting pads

I have been using the microfiber correction system for the first time this week. The results have been great, but both of my cutting pads are coming apart. I have a old pc7424, so I am running it on speed 5. On one pad, the white face of the pad is coming loose from the rest of the pad in the middle. You can pull the white part away from the rest of the pad. On the second pad, the part that attaches to the backing plate is coming off starting around the edge.

I have washed them in the sink, and in the washer. I already have a replacement coming for the first one that was going bad. I read about the system thoroughly before using it, but could I be causing this?

Over use of product can cause saturation that, when coupled the heat that can be created at the pad/backing plate interface, can be pretty harsh on the material. But the most common issue we see causing a failure is people pulling the pads off the backing plate by grabbing the foam just halfway through it - we've actually seen the foam tear after repeatedly being pulled off the backing plate this way. We recommend getting your fingers under the pad and pulling up from the hook & loop material directly:

Now, we did have a bit of a production issue with some of the earlier pads and they were prone to premature failure. We will gladly replace these pads, as apparently we're already doing with one of them for you. Don't hesitate to contact our Customer Care Center to replace the other one for you, but keep the above removal tips in mind for future use.

Thanks for the reply Michael. I am sure you always get this when there is a problem, but I cannot figure out what I was doing wrong. I watched the videos and did a lot of reading before using the system. I am not a noob by any means when it comes to detailing. As for using too much product, after priming it with 4 pea size dots, everytime I applied product, it was 4 pea size dots. I was using a good bit of pressure in a few areas, but I marked a line on the side of the backing plate so that I knew it was still rotating. I was also using compressed air after each application. I was careful about how I pulled the pads off of the backing plate. I made sure to pull them off like you described.

If I did anything wrong, it must have been too much product I guess. The pads were not soaked by any means, and when blown out, they fluffed up again. When I was done working in the product, all I had left was a thin film that easily wiped off.

Either way, I love the results. I do not like to use my rotary unless I have to, and this is a nice step in between the rotary and the da with foam pads. I did apply the #26 tech wax as my last step. I have used it for years and it gives a good shine plus it holds up a long time. I did use the mf finishing pad to apply the #26. Is there any reason I should not do that?

After washing the pads make sure you let them dry MF side down on something like a grit guard, so the excess water does not seep into the hook and loop material and saturate the adhesive which could cause separation in the long run.

I have not done this, but I will in the future.
