  • Terry Bonnet on a G110v2 Pad?

Is it possible to use a terry cloth bonnet over any pad of the G110v2 to take out wax? Set of a low speed (1-2) of course.

Terry is generally too aggressive, and can cause swirls. I have used MF bonnets without problems, but the Meguiars guys have found that can also cause swirls sometimes.

And you generally want a firmer pad.

Honestly I wouldn't mess with the bonnets to remove wax. If you're applying wax with a DA, it will be thin enough (or should be) that wipe off is a breeze.

We're in agreement with this. There are downsides to removing a hazed wax with a bonnet wrapped over a foam pad on a DA: chief among them is the very real possibility that you're being overly aggressive when removing the wax that you actually take it all off, including that microscopically thin layer of protection you want to leave behind. Also, since using a bonnet over a pad often can't reach all areas you end up having to go back over the car by hand anyway. And, as ethereal points out, since applying wax with a DA results in a very thin coat to begin with (which is what you want) removal by hand is a snap. People tend to be in the habit of repeatedly "buffing" the finish after wiping the wax off and you simply do not have to do this - just wipe it off and move on. Continued buffing does not increase the gloss and can very well take off that thin layer of protection just like overly aggressive machine removal can.

Don't make what should be a pretty straight forward and simple process into a laborious, complex one.
