i believe the foamed wool pads are designed for use on rotary, but will they perform just as well with the correct backing plate on a da?

A wool pad of any sort is usually a very bad idea on a DA buffer. You most likely won't do any real, permanent damage, but the chances of badly hazing or marring the paint are extremely high - like, almost every single time. If you're in a situation where foam pads and a good compound aren't quite getting the job done and you either don't want to step up to a rotary, don't have a rotary, or just plain don't know how to use a rotary, then the next best step is the DA Microfiber Correction System.

Foamed wool pads work best with rotary buffers and forced rotation dual action polishers (Flex 3401, Makita BO 6040, Festool).
Microfiber pads/ discs will provide good experience with traditional D/A polishers.Comment
