  • Am i realy need 4" pads?

    Hi all,

I haven't used any DA so far, so don't know should i order 4" pads with my G220-V2 beside 5.5" or not?

4" pads and their backing plate will cost around 30 EUR for me here in Germany.

would you please have a look to my car, and inform me that for witch sections, i would be in need of 4"?

Would be any differentiation in final result?

    Thanks in advance,
    Ali

You don't "need" the 4" pads for any part of that car, but they can come in handy for areas like the A-pillar next to the windshield or the area between the headlights and grille. Even then, you don't have to have the smaller pads to work on those areas. If you tape off the grille or maybe some rubber trim around the windshield, it's not a problem to have a larger pad overlap the headlight lens or the windshield glass while buffing the paint in those narrow places. We would guess that the vast majority of people do not use 4" pads when working on those areas.

Hi Michael, Thank you for advices.

Despite it's obvious that such small pads are more handy for areas that you mentioned, but I guess that switching between big and 4" pads also may waste some products, especially in waxing.

Just red your informative thread "An Introduction to the G110v2" an saw following photos.

How much do you use 4" pads in your normal detailing in person? (just want to know your personal experience)
Do you prefer to detail entire car with one backing plate or you have no hesitate to change them to meet better results?

Get the 4" pads for sure, it'll help you polish out number of places on any car that are hard to reach with 5.5" pads.

As for B/plate, 3" megs broke twice on me, so look for other alternatives as this one seems to be poorly made.

        Hope this helps.
