Re: Purchased the Porter Cable 7424XP ..

OMG! Last week I did a small area (by hand) maybe a 6" by a foot area, to test the product, and of course hopefully gain some confidence ..
Well, It rained here today, and when I went out to inspect the small area, there were no water spots, not ONE! All around it was a mess lol!
A veerrry small amount of dust on the test area, but I'm wearing a cotton long-sleeve shirt and I simply, baarrrrely used the under-arm part of my shirt,
and the damn dust JUMMPED up onto my sleeve LMAO! I was like ..

Not only do these products do what they say they'll do, but I have quite the confidence that I'm gonna be saving a tonnnn of time.
      I'm stoked!

        Your Sir are HOOKED!

Good to see it is workin' for ya. U Wax Liquid is nice, it doesn't stain trim work (big plus). Just think THIN.

Hats off to Smack (Mike) for offering to teach/help you out.

Must ask, did you clay first?

LOL! I am soo totally hooked!
And yes, a very thoughtful offer by Mike .. one that I assure you, Ill be very grateful for later.

I thought "least aggressive, barbaric, errr, method .. first
As the paint is just over a half a year, I've minamally washed and kept it fairly clean.
The small test area that I did, MORE then convinced me that I'm on the right track.
Besides, I've never used a clay-bar before lol. I'm ole school and much more comfortable, not to mention ..
I have alot more faith in myself and confidence in me, with a nice new high rpm tool in my hand .. arrr ar arrrr .. < Tim Allen ..

Mike, we'll talk soon .. thanks you guys ..

              Tomi,

Claying is probably the easiest thing you can do. When you really get rolling along with you car...clay first. It REALLY does make a difference.

I waited and waited for Binford Tools to come out with a DA...

Re: Purchased the Porter Cable 7424XP ..

Well, started yesterday, and finished today .. easy as pie!
I have no idea what I was so worried about .. that PC is a snap to work with.
I found that the best speed for me was 4 .. Bill, the water spots are gone!
Maybe when the paint gets a lil older, I'll use a clay-bar. But this, this was very easy.
I cleaned my pads every-other application, worked smaller areas, then went bigger as I got more confident.
Wiped any excess off with a clean MF towel. I put the UW on by hand .. innnsane stuff!

I didn't do the roof, cuz I furgeted to buy some blue tape. I have those thick plastic/rubber runners up there.
They're a lil dry and would prolly get messed up. I also didn't apply and UD .. once I'm done, I'll consider it.
However, I may want to do another UW to the whole car in about a week or 2? Then the UD ..

I think it came out alot better then I expected. It was also much faster then I anticipated.
Cleaning the pads on the fly, and keeping organized is key. I'm even all cleaned up (pads and tools)
Now all I have to do is down about 20 IPUPROFEN .. and, I think I'll live! Paiiiiinnnn .. I am soo soorrre!
I give you guys and gals who do this for a living alot of props .. very taxing physicaly,
specially when I haven't buffed anything in yeearrrs! It's got to be priced into the job lol!
I am in foooking pain man LMAO! I ain't gonna lie .. for right now, it's in the shower, then EAT! I'm starved!
Thank you to everyone who has been patient with me and helped me along the way .. Mike! Bill .. The mods here ...
This place rocks and all you have helped me to accomplish what I set out to do!
Thank you Meguires for your wonderful CS .. and thank you Las Vegas Car Care for being there! Thank You All !!!

Sitting in the shade where I detailed her ... even did the head-lights ..

The hood, weird, but I have 2 Tomi's lol .. I've never seen 2 shadows before!

Just a shot to show the reflection of the wheel in the car next to me .. wow!

Tomi, the car looks absolutely fantastic!!! Awesome work - and not "awesome for a first timer" but just plain awesome!! I love these threads where the rest of the community comes together and helps out a new user. If it looks like my assistance is really needed, or if it seems something glaring has been overlooked, I'll jump in. But with threads like this one, I like to just look in every now and then and make sure everything is on track and the newbie is taking the good advice given. So in light of that, nice work all around guys, and thanks for setting Tomi on the road to a properly shining car!

Hey Tomi, glad you were able to get the car to come out like you did with reading through the forums and asking questions. The reflection shot in the last picture looks great. Now just put some dressing on the tires and enjoy your new car.
