  • Picked up a G110V2!!!!!

I picked up his Meguiar's G110V2 Dual Action Polisher (Buffer) along with pads and product from a friend all for $100!

    1) M105 Ultra Cut Compound
    2) M205 Ultra Finish Polish
    3) M07 Showcar Glaze polish
    4) M26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax

    ----------

will be buying some new Lake Country Pads and some more product when that is gone.

ive never used a buffer but once and it was a dewalt on my glass. I cant wait!!

Ive been reading and watching youtube videos on it and it "looks" fairly easy to use! My biggest thing is knowing what pads to use in what situations as well as product. i have the product shown as well as picked up Some UW and UP. Im going to try the combination on a oanel 50/50 style to see which works best

Congratulations on your new polisher! But that's not the G110v2 but it's a G110.

Usually, you use the yellow polishing pad for defect removal (M105, or M205 for 1 step) and the black/beige finishing pad for final polishing/waxing (M205 for multistep).

Take your polisher and handle to Lowes or Home Depot they will have your bolts. I believe they are 8x1.25MM.

The original Softbuff (W800x) and the new Softbuff 2.0 (W820x) polishing pads are both yellow. The original Softbuff (W900x) finishing pad is beige while the new Softbuff 2.0 (W920x) is black. The yellow polishing pads have a denser foam. This increases the correcting/cutting ability. Also, the softbuff 2.0 pads are machine washable while the original softbuff pads weren't recommended to be machine washed.

              Hope this helps.

Awesome!! If i dont have pad washer or compressed air, what is best way to wash original softbuff pads then. Handwash?

I think im going to order me some lake country pads for it and give them a whirl. They are a little bit cheaper as well. U prefer meguiars or lake country?

Also i take it cutting pads are really recommended for this machine. I also have some UW and UC. I guess i use the compound of the polishing pad and the polish on the finishing pad?

Lastly when i took of backing plate tbing it says to use only 5" pads. Is that true for the g110? I mean the backing plate is not much under 5" and i have the 6"-7: pads that the backing plate fits perfect

Yeah I hand washed my original softbuff pads without a problem. It isn't recommended though.

For me, they work equally well. I have both. I like the Meguiar's Softbuff 2.0 pads because they are machine washable.

What specific backing plate are you using?

For the softbuff 2.0 pads, I would recommend the W68DA backing plate. This BP will fit these pads perfectly. For the original softbuff pads, I would recommend the W67DA backing plate.

For more information about backing plates, I would suggest you read this GREAT article written by Mike Stoops: Backing Plates: More Than Just A Way To Stick A Pad To A Buffer.

                    Hope this helps.

I believe its the W67DA since it is the g110v1. Im sure its probably what came with it originally. I know its only a little less than 5" in diameter. The yellow backing plate. But underneath the backing plate on the actual machine it says something about 5" pads. But if my backing plate is a little less than 5" and i use a 5" pad that leaves little room for error per that article. I just need to know what size pads i can use for the w67da. as u seen, i have a mix of softbuff 6.5"-7" soft buff pads. And the little white backing fits on the backing plater perfect. So am i safe? That eay i know what to order in the lake country

You will need to order the 5.5" pads from lake country to be used with your w67da.

Alrighty between ur replies and some digging on autogeek, looks like i can use up to a 6.5" pad on my backing plate (for sure the w67da)

                          Source:

                          http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-w67da-5-inch-backing-plate.html

So it looks like the black pad i have is if no use to me i guess in reality. Id have to get the w68da u speak of. Now as to the lake country ones, which ones woukd be best? The hydro ones? I have seen them mentioned a few times

                          http://www.autogeek.net/lakecountry.html

After that i think im good on questions lol. Thanks for the patience man, noob to this and had some questions

You need to get the 5.5" pads for your w67da. You need as much support as you can to get the most efficiency out of your pads. If you want to get the 6.5" LC pads, the 5" BP will be fine but the 6" lake country backing plate will be a better choice. For the softbuff 2.0 pads, you really need to get the w68da backing plate.

As far as the type of pads, either way will be fine.

                            Hope this helps.
