Re: Not sure who to blame ..

One of the favorite, if not the favorite pad for working with UC.

Love the size/power ratio, not using any 7" pads any longer, as the 220G lacks power for bigger pads.

    Anyway, your opinions please.

ps. no built-up of heat and the like, completed more then 40 outstanding jobs in the last year or so ...

      Couple questions:
      - how do you clean those pads during detailing/ polishing (on the fly, nylon brush) ?
      - what backing plate do you use
      - do you ever go to speed 6 for extended period of time ?
      - how do you clean 8204 after detailing/ polishing (what detergent, washing and drying temperatures).

Never use a buffing pad which is even little wet - the steam will cause serious problems very quickly.

On the fly if that matters

        3"

rarely, usually max is speed 5. as this is a small pad ..

Machine washed, with laundry detergent, 30 Celsius temperature.

I actually never use wet pads at all.

        Cheers!!

          Wow, that's unfortunate.

I hope you get to the bottom of how it happened.

When you say it has completed over 40 jobs - do you mean entire vehicles? that's quite a bit..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Pardon me, I meant I personally completed over 40 jobs.

The pad has been used on the day for the first time .. thus my surprise.

Hmm, maybe it is the picture but that pad sure looks old. The way the foam is tattered around the edges, the not-so-bright yellow and the fact that it appears to be soft in the middle looks more like an aged pad. Are you sure you didn't throw an older one on there by accident?

I have never seen anything like that on a new pad... heavily used pads can fail after some time and use, though.

                  Hmm. Wild.

Can you describe in detail what was done with the pad before it failed? (Pressure, speed, product, surface, etc)

                  Thanks!

Re: Not sure who to blame ..

We have to say that's a new one on us - we've never seen one of these pads fail like this. We suggest you contact either the store where you purchased the item or contact our Australian distributor for a replacement. It's really hard to state definitively what caused this (especially since we've never seen it happen before), but with the number of jobs you've done using similar pads you know that this is an unusual occurrence.

Thank you Master, even my old 4" pads are in excellent shape. I have ( nearly) abandoned the other pad sizes and only use the 4" one.
I'm sure this is due to material failure and will surely contact megs Australia.

                        How did you go?

Did they look after you? They've been pretty good with me in the past...

Looks like they were willing to replace the pad, but unfortunately Megs Australia doesn't stock the 4" pads.

The lady referred me back to Megs in US?!!???

Not the best customer service for sure.

                            Not good.

Did you get the original pad shipped over from the US via AG or equivalent?

Got it from an ebay reputable seller.
