  • Need some help picking out Lake Country pads for UC/UP/NXT

    I have the older style porter cable 7472 DA polisher which doesn't have as much power as the newer ones. I find that smaller pads like the lake country CCS 5.5" pads work better than the meguiars soft buff and soft buff 2.0 pads on this older model. The problem is that Lake Country has so many pads I don't know which ones are ideal.

    My current DA game consists of Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, and NXT 2.0 liquid. What CCS pads would be the best for these?

    Here is a good starting point. You can download their application guide. Although no specific Meguiar's products are mentioned, there are generalities.

      After talking MOL's greg0303, I decided to get the full 3 pad system from Lake Country's Hydro-Tech line. I will report back on how they work after using them. Much thanks greg for sharing a ton of his expertise with me.

        I've had discussions with the guys at eshine.ca about this very subject. They have used numerous Meguiar's products with Lake Country pads and they have never had an issue. From their own experience they advised me to use the following combinations:

        Ultimate Compound --> Orange Pad
        Ultimate Polish/Deep Crystal Polish --> White Pad
        Ultimate Wax/NXT 2.0 --> Black Pad

        Hope this helps you and others out there who are trying to find the right match between pads and Meguiar's products.
        Seeing their heads turn as you drive by is payment enough.

          from the flat/CCS pad line:

          Orange = light cutting
          White = polishing
          Black = finishing

          from the Hydrotech line:

          Cyan = cutting
          Tangerine = polishing
          Crimson = finishing

          The HT pads generally have more cut than the equivalent flat/CCS pad, but finish out just as well (if not better).

            Francis,

            If you use rotary buffer or forced rotation D/A (Flex 3401, Makita BO 6040, Festool) check out Lake Country's newest system: hybrid pads.
            Very impressive.
