Meguiar's usually recommends using the least aggressive method to get the job done. You have the right approach by using a very mild product such as ColorX and a mild foam pad such as te 9207 finishing pad. If this doesn't work then you need to step it up to the 8207 polishing pad or a more aggressive polish such as SwirlX or Ultimate Compound. I wouldn't be surprised if you have to use the polishing pad for this job.

Because of the vehicle's condition, I wouldn't even bother using the finishing pad and go straight to the polishing pad. I would also try to use a more aggressive polish such as SwirlX. I would bet that the truck's paint will have heavy oxidation and you need a pad and product combo that will have some bite to it.

Hope this helps. Good luck and maybe you can share some before and after photos.

Thank you marco for your reply it dose help, I think I will spend a bit more time polishing the paint, I have ultimate compound and polish to amp things up the paint. That is lifeless and dull. I will take photos to share as well.

Goodluck with the G110V2, I'm thinkin you may need a burgundy cutting pad first?

I'm glad to hear that you have ultimate compound. You might end up using that. Applying ultimate polish after you initial cleaning step will for sure amp up gloss!

The 7207 cutting pads are not recommended to be used with the D/A. It could end up hazing the paint especially if it's too soft. Mike Stoops has had great success using the 8207 polishing pad with ultimate compound via the D/A in removing very heavy swirls and defects.

^ yea...think you're correct....I though 11 yr old vehicle, neglected, seldom washed....i guess UC and a yellow pad is strong enough

I would say UC and yellow pad should do OK although another round with fresh yellow pad moght be good before Ultimate polish and finishing pad.

I used colorX on a yellow pad because it was all I had, I have to say it worked pretty well. You would get better cleaning, less gloss on a yellow polishing pad, and more gloss less cleaning on a black finishing pad.
