  • Ultimate Polish and DA

    Hi Guys,

Been browsing the forum a bit and cant get any info on this. Got a DAS6 on Wednesday so tonight will be my first attempt.

I've got a few swirls and spider webs here and there but nothing major. Car has pretty hard clear coat.

Can I use Ultimate Polish with the DA to get a less aggressive cut than Ultimate Compound will give? (Its the paste)

Then, is there any products i can use with the DA?

    Plan of action will be:
    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Ultimate Polish with DAS6
    4. NXT 2.0 Wax on low setting with DAS6
    5. Ultimate Quick Wax to give that deep glaze on the silver car!

    Any advice?

    Re: Ultimate Polish and DA

Ultimate Polish is some pretty tame stuff. If your swirls are minor, then it may help a little. One of the things often preached on Meguiar's is test spot. Find a 2 foot by 2 foot area on the car and try the Ultimate Polish with a yellow Meguiar's pad. If that doesn't work, then you may need to step up to Ultimate Compound. The goal is to find the least aggressive product and procedure that will remove the defects in your test area before proceeding the the rest of the car. ColorX is an excellent product, easy to use and removes minor defects while creating a great shine. So your plan of action might read like this: Wash, Clay, ColorX and NXT wax. Wash and clay are really key to the end result, but working in a test area and finding that right combination of least aggressive product and procedure is important to your success.

I personally don't feel Ultimate Quik Wax will give you that "deep glaze" you're after. However it is an important part of maintaining your car. Perform your plan of action and the next time you wash the car after your initial plan of action , use Ultimate Quik Wax as you dry the car. It acts as an excellent booster wax to your NXT wax.

      Re: Ultimate Polish and DA

      Thanks for the info dude.

The car is in really really good condition it is like i said just these very fine defects i want to remove hence the Polish instead of compound. I will try polish first, if that doesnt erm... cut it... i will move to scratch X and if i still dont get it out i will go all the way to Ultimate Compound.

      Thanks again for the info!!!
