Where's the heat coming from? Mine comes from the carbon brush replacement area, but not the whole machine in general

Yeah most the heat is from the brushs but the whole machine is warm

It is suppose to get warm. Not hot but warm. Are you using extension cord? what size wire? Should be #14. Since this unit is 540 watt (I think) this wattage is basically converted into heat. Could get more into details but it would be pointless. My 2 cents.

14ga is ok, but depends on how long the cord is, ultimately a 12ga would be best, since you wont be dropping as many volts at the end of the cord.

            A 50-foot, 12-gauge cord will drop about 3.9 volts at 12 amps.
            A 100-foot 12-gauge cord will drop about 7.8 volts at 12 amps.

            A 50-foot, 14-gauge cord will drop about 6.2 volts at 12 amps.
            A 100-foot 14-gauge cord will drop about 12.4 volts at 12 amps.

Assuming worst case with a 14-gauge, 100-foot cord you're throwing away 10% of the power in the cord.

Well, that may be the problem, the wire in the is dropping a lot of volts by the time it gets to the tool. Try going to a 12/3 ( 12 gauge, 3 wire ) extension cord, im in the construction bussiness, and what tends to happen is when a light gauge extension cord is used like that it tends to actually burn up the tool faster, reason being is the tool needs, and wants that power, but its not getting it and working harder to maintain the power level. Personally i wouldnt run anything smaller then a 12/3, IMHO.

                    For what it's worth ,
I agree with all the comments recommending the 12/3 extension cord. However, I have a brand new one ( Megs DA) also and I have only used a 14/3 25ft cord and it gets hot also in a very short time. I doubt that helps cause it would be hard to compare what we each think is too hot for a period of time. I also was a bit concerned at first, but for comparison, let's say I was using a similar sized hand tool or saw/drill, for the same work cycle , I think the temperature I feel the DA get is similar. Also , for what it's worth , I now feel the need to get some extra lighting in the garage and plan on getting another extension cord, I will pick up a 12/3 just for a test and see if it makes any difference.

In case others come across this thread like I did.

I ran across this thread because I had heat issues with my new polisher. Turns out it was that I didn't put the little plastic washer between the backing pad and the buffer. The screws on the backing bad were pressing against the counterweight and causing it to not spin freely. it oscilated, but did not spin. Once I put the washer in place the buffer works fantastic! A great machine.

I'll add my comments to this problem as soon as I receive my polisher. Just curious as to where you purchased your G110v2 polisher and when? I ordered mine direct from Mequir's back in June and after several "back ordered notices" I still have yet to get it. Assuming you just got one, maybe it was on a shelf for several months before being sold? I'm getting a little impatient and want to use mine before the snow flies! Thanks ................

Walmart in NH. Found it based on this thread. http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...-Walmart/page2
I was in the same boat. Wanted to get it done sooner as fall is moving in. Did pay $180. But I justified it as I didn't have to wait or pay shipping fees. I'm certain there are better deals out there online.

I got mine from Auto Detailing Solutions in Chandler, AZ- Rick is his name. I paid about 130 something. No shipping cause I live in the area. Bought it about 2 months ago. It is an outstanding product and has cut my work in half.

OK I finally got my D/A the end of October .... What a joke It only took 4 months to get it and all the supplies with it. Anyways I first used it the end of October and did my son's Pontiac Vibe GT and it was awesome. I then went to use it two weeks later and it started acting up. It would run for about 3 seconds and then trip out. Turn off, then back on and it would do it again. Every now & then it would "ramp up & down" then quit. A few times it actually stayed on like it's suppose to. I'll read up here and see what the problem could be. Probably brush related BUT c'mon, I only used it 15 minutes at the most
