  • Excess Touch Up Paint Removal

Recently purchased a 2010 Chrysler 300 in Brilliant Black. Previous owner attempted to touch up scratches on the hood and trunk deck lid but it appears that they just used the brush in the cap of the touch up paint bottle to cover the scratches. Now I have 1/4" to 3/8" inch wide uneven stripes of touch up paint where the scratches were. Can I repair this with just my D/A and the Microfiber System or am I looking at wet sanding to fix this? Do I need a rotary to get the 3000 grit sand marks out or can I get by with the D/A? I have the D/A Microfiber System and 105/205 with 5" and 3" burgandy foam pads. I am planning on going over the entire car with the D/A Microfiber System (300 & 301) this week and hoping to at least make this a bit better for now. Thanks for any advise...

I would even those areas with a sandpaper (3000 grit is okay).

I usually use my D/A as an electric sander and Meg's Unigrit 3" or 6" discs with interface foam pad (damp-sanding).

You should be fine removing 3000 grit sanding marks with a D/A and either D300 or M105 (unless your paint is rock hard, which shouldn't be a case). Follow with M205 or D301 for gloss restoration.
