what's the difference between backing plate W68DA and S-6BP
Re: what's the difference between backing plate W68DA and S-6BP
W68DA - 5.75" diameter, best to use with 7" 2.0 Soft Buff pads, which have recessed backing.
S6BP - best for 6" Unigrit Sanding and Finishing discs (may be used with 6" foam interface pad) or 6" Microfiber discs (D/A Microfiber Correction System).
Re: what's the difference between backing plate W68DA and S-6BP
You do NOT want to use the W68DA backing plate with the DA Microfiber Discs. The hook and loop doesn't reach to the edge of the disc so you run the risk of catching things between it and the disc - not a good thing.
Just as importantly, however, is that if you're going to be using the DA Microfiber System on a traditional DA buffer (Meguiar's, Porter Cable, Griot's, etc) you're better off using the 5" rather than the 6" discs. The 5" were developed specifically for use on the DA, the 6" for larger format tools like the Flex 3401, Festool, or pneumatic DA tools.

wow thanks mike. i'm currently using Meguiar's G220 here in the philippines bought from Meguiar's australia with original W67DA backing plate that comes from the package. so all i need is the 5" discs, the compound and the finishing wax? no need for me to buy the 5" starter kit coz i do already have the backing plate right?

W67DA backing plate works with 5" microfiber discs and also with 6.5" Meguiar's buffing pads. You just need the microfiber discs and D300 Correction Compound/ D301 Finishing Wax for D/A MF Correction System.

That's correct. 5" Kit comes with W67DA.
Remember the correct speed settings for this System:
D300 - 4800 opm,
D301 - 3800 opm.
