Yes, that's normal. They're very thin compared to the regular foam pads and work better, IMO.
But I recently had a pad separate from it's hook and loop backing while working on one of my cars. Just something to be aware of, but they're really great to work with.

The disc in the top picture almost looks thicker than the other one. How do they feel when you compress them rather than just bending them?
If the difference between these two discs is really dramatic, we'd like to get them back from you and we'll gladly replace them. i have a total of 4 disk now. only one will bend without creasing. the other are all stiff. they compress the same and same thickness. (pic was just closer)
