  • Basic combos of pads / fluids using what I have?

I know there are far too many pad / fluid combos one can use (at least I would imagine). But using what I have currently can anyone suggest some starting combos I can work with.

I found this on MOL… which is kinda sorta what I am looking for if at all possible, but with LC pads....

What I have to work with my DA (PC 7336):

    Liquids:

Meguiars SwirlX, PlastX, Ultimate Compound, M105 Ultra Cut Compound, M205 Ultra Finishing Polish

    Meguiars M02 Fine Cut Cleaner ( # 2 ), M03 Machine Glaze ( # 3 ), M07 Show Car Glaze ( # 7 ), M09 Swirl Remover 2.0 ( # 9 )

Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnuba Car Wax, Ultimate Quick Wax, NXT Tech Wax 2.0

    Pads:

Lake Country 5.5" CCS Foam Pads ( Orange, White, Green, Gray, Blue, Red )

    Bonnets:

Autogeek 6" DA Terry Cloth Bonnets (4)

    Autogeek 6" DA Microfiber Bonnet Kit ( w/ 8 70/30 bonnets & 1 lambswool leveling pad )

SMAT products: cleaners and cleaner polishes, different aggressiveness, looks good.

    Meguiars M02 Fine Cut Cleaner ( # 2 ), M03 Machine Glaze ( # 3 ), M07 Show Car Glaze ( # 7 ), M09 Swirl Remover 2.0 ( # 9 )

It looks like going toward single stage paints. I would just keep M07 pure polish and just add M80 Speed Glaze. M205 SMAT product covers most of this area already.

Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnuba Car Wax, Ultimate Quick Wax, NXT Tech Wax 2.0

I would replace Deep Crystal Wax with either Gold Class Carnauba Plus or M26 High Tech Yellow Wax.

    Pads:

Lake Country 5.5" CCS Foam Pads ( Orange, White, Green, Gray, Blue, Red )

Good size for your D/A and full aggressiveness scale. In the future 4" spot buffing pads may be handy as well for tight spaces/ small panels.

    Bonnets:

Autogeek 6" DA Terry Cloth Bonnets (4)
    Autogeek 6" DA Microfiber Bonnet Kit ( w/ 8 70/30 bonnets & 1 lambswool leveling pad )

For wax removal, right? Bonnet has to go on top of foam cutting pad to be effective.
Needed: clay bar for bonded above surface contaminants and clay lubricant (Quik Detailer, M34 Final Inspection or D155 Last Touch Spray Detailer diluted 1:1 with water).

"Meguiars SwirlX, PlastX, Ultimate Compound, M105 Ultra Cut Compound, M205 Ultra Finishing Polish

I also have a want list and on it…

      Meguiars ScratchX 2.0
      Meguiars ColorX
      Meguiars M95 Diamond Cut Compound

How would these fit in? Or does something I already have negate them?

      "Meguiars M02 Fine Cut Cleaner ( # 2 ), M03 Machine Glaze ( # 3 ), M07 Show Car Glaze ( # 7 ), M09 Swirl Remover 2.0 ( # 9 )

SS and BC/CC. Trying to cover all bases. Mostly BC/CC though.

On this list I also have a want list for…

      Meguiars D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream
      Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish ( # 83 )
      Meguiars Speed Glaze ( # 80 )

So the M80 is good to get, thank you. What about the 151 and 83? Or like above, does something I already have negate them?

"Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnuba Car Wax, Ultimate Quick Wax, NXT Tech Wax 2.0

I am wanting to pick up M26 but will look for either.

Yeah research showed the 5.5" to be the most favored size for the 7336. But I will keep an eye on 4" pads!

"Autogeek 6" DA Terry Cloth Bonnets (4)
      Autogeek 6" DA Microfiber Bonnet Kit ( w/ 8 70/30 bonnets & 1 lambswool leveling pad )

Yeah, mainly wax application and removal…

"Needed: clay bar for bonded above surface contaminants and clay lubricant (Quik Detailer, M34 Final Inspection or D155 Last Touch Spray Detailer diluted 1:1 with water)."

Do have the 3 bar smooth surface clay kit with Quik Detailer and a lot of M34. Love that stuff.

        [B
ScratchX 2.0 - paint cleaner for isolated problems. It comes in small tube[/B].
ColorX - mild all in one (AIO) cleaner wax.
M95 - very similar to M105, but with more traditional compound feeling. It's rotary use only - skip it.

On this list I also have a want list for…

        Meguiars D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream
        Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish ( # 83 )
        Meguiars Speed Glaze ( # 80 )

D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream (PRC) - aggressive cleaner wax. This liquid can really cut even when used with a D/A polisher. My favorite all in one product.
M80/ M83 great cleaner polishes for single stage paints. Just get M80 as you already have M205.

I am wanting to pick up M26 but will look for either.

I prefer M26 over Gold Class Carnauba Plus.

        You're good to go.

        Happy detailing !!!
I'll be doing 1-step correction using D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream this weekend. Pics will follow.

Did mean to add... I have a rotary, Makita 9227. Should I keep M95 on the list?

M95 offers the same cut level like M105. Slightly different abrasives to give more traditional compounding feeling (closer to DAT products).

No need to have both IMO. M105 can be also used with D/A polishers and by hand, M95 is rotary only product.
