Does anyone know the OPM ratings for this PC Buffer?
I have searched and searched, and cannot find what the speeds are in relation to the numbers on the speed dial.

    BTW:

Just FYI, there are different counter-Weights if you use 5" or 6" pads, on your Pc DA Buffer, (or any other, I presume) so be sure you have the correct ones installed. Bearing life on the shafts and motor, etc could be compromised with the wrong weight installed...

Porter Cable packages essentially the same tool with different accessories and changes the part number accordingly. The 7346SP appears to be the same tool as the 7424XP other than it comes with a sanding backing plate and the white buffing pad instead of just the pad. PC's website lists both tools as having speed ranges from 2500 to 6800 opm but exactly where the individual speed settings fall....... that info is here someplace, but their numbers are not as consistent as ours (each speed setting adds 1,000 opm, staring at 1,800 opm and ending at 6,800 opm on Meguiar's G110v2).

The 7424 I bought came with the 6 inch Velcro backing pad and a 5 inch polishing pad. If I change to either a 4 or 5 inch Velcro pad, do I have to change the counterweight??

No. This debate was put to rest several years ago and almost nobody seems to be able to tell the difference when using either counterweight with any backing plate/pad combo.

Counterweight is only a concern when using a DA for sanding, not buffing.
The 6 inch counterweight is needed when you use it for sanding, a must.

The PC is a sander and also a buffer!
