I just got my G110V2 in the mail, but problem with the backing pad? Video inside

  • I just got my G110V2 in the mail, but problem with the backing pad? Video inside

    I just got my Gv1102 that i ordered from amazon. I was putting everything together and I noticed something after installing the backing pad, which im not sure will make a difference or if i should ask for a new backing pad from meguiars.



    spins perfectly circle but when you look at it from the side it wobbles like the backing pad is off or the screw portion on the back pad isn't straight?

    Funny, I just got mine today and it's doing the same thing. It's not as bad as yours but I can definately notice it. I got mine from ADS. I'm gonna call tomorrow to see if it's normal and see what we can do for a replacement.

      Yea i mean when it spins like that its not hitting anything on the inner part since the washer on the backing plate keep its it pretty apart.

      I don't THINK its the actually polisher just the backing plate itself.

      Im hoping some g110v2 owners can chime in or if some meguiars people can tell me if this will weird pressure patterns while im buffing and polishing since the backing plate isn't moving flat.

          I forgot to ask originally, are you going to try and replace the whole polisher or just the backing pad?

            I'm gonna just get backing plate replaced first. I'm pretty sure that's the culprit since the backing plate holder (yellow part on the G110v2) spins correctly.

              Looks like the plate was tweaked, possibly at its mounting point. I highly doubt that is from the G110v2 itself.

                That's what I was thinking too...

                I just got off the phone with Rick @ ADS, who instructed me to get in touch with Meguiars Cust. Service number @ 1.800.347.5700, After getting someone on the phone, he basically told me to pound sand saying "there is nothing he can do". Keep in mind that I just want a new backing plate, not a whole G110v2 unit...

                He then gave me the option of sending everything to them, to let them check it out, and will send it back to me in approximately 10 business days. Apparently, they think I'm unable to screw in a backing plate...

                I waited 2 months for this unit to be re-released ..

                Where's this Meguiar's customer service that everyone speaks so highly of?

                  I would take it up with ADS, they sold it to you...you should be able to return it to them, and they take care of it with Meguiars.

                    Sorry to hear about your frustrating call when contacting our Customer Care Center. I would like to figure out where the break down happened. I will send you a PM shortly in hopes we can figure out a solution that is reasonable for you.

                    It is unfortunate that ADS did not handle your initial request as you purchased the buffer from them. Yes, we are known for taking care of our customers and we do stand behind our products but keep in mind we are still a business. We prefer to handle every customer and situation on a case by case basis and often times that results in us bending rules, making exceptions, etc. However, asking for some form of proof of purchase and/or the product to be returned is not an inappropriate request. How many companies offer replacements or refunds without requiring the product be returned? This is not just to keep customers honest. There are also quality control issues, like the one you have brought to our attention, that need to be investigated. We cannot do a proper investigation if we do not have any examples of the problem. I hesitate to even bring up these points as we really have no desire to be a company that is run by rules and regulations, but considering this is a public forum it may be worth mentioning our perspective from time to time.

                    That being said, I understand your current frustration especially considering the length of time you waiting for your buffer. Please check your pm box and get back to me.

                      What really? i called costumer service just to avoid dealing with amazon and saving it for total last resort.

                      The guy who helped me was TOTALLY helpful, I told him about how the backing plate wobbled and that he'd had never heard of a problem like that. I asked him what I should do and he basicly told me that I should replace the mounting plate first and see if that fixes the problem and if not that I would have to send in the whole unit.

                      So he wanted me to send in the plate back to them with a invoice of where I bought it from and he would send me out a new one to replace the tweaked mounting plate. I actually asked if i should send in the whole unit but he told me thats just extra work for me if its only the backing plate thats tweaked, and that for now just replacing the plate would be best.


                      Luckily all returns for meguiars are send to its HQ in Irvine luckily I live 30-40 minutes from Irvine so I just brought it over with a invoice and a letter with all my info and the problem with the plate and the backing plate itself.

                        Rick and I have been in contact today and to find a solution about the backing plate problems that I had with my new G110v2. He has been more than helpful with trying to help me out. However, due to Meguiars initial request, Rick was told to forward all calls to Meguiars to handle such requests. I am in no way upset with the way ADS handled this. Hell, I wasn't even expecting a follow-up call from ADS, but Rick wanted to make sure I got an answer from Meguiars.


                        With that said, The customer service rep who I spoke with did not ask for a proof of purchase or asked where I purchased my G110v2. I would have gladly emailed him a copy of my invoice

                        Whatever the case may be, Brian is sending me a replacement backing plate so this will work out.

                        Props go out to both Rick @ ADS and Brian @ Meguiars. Both guys are great to deal with.
