1- UC is a polish / paint cleaner that will provide no protection, you should follow up with a wax of your choosing.

2- Depends on several things, including how much correcting/polishing you need to do, how many polishes / cleaners you plan to use. You will want to have several of whatever pads you choose, and separate pads for each polish. For use with your PC XP and Ultimate compound, you will want polishing pads. For applying a wax, a finishing pad. There are tons of pads out there to choose from.

      Hello

You'll need wax because UC will remove defects but will not provide any additional protection. Which wax is basically a personal choice. You can choose between NXT, Carnauba or Ultimate wax.

Plus, depending on how your paint responds to the Ultimate Compound you may notice some hazing after UC. If so you need a mild cleaner such as Swirl X to properly remove hazing before applying wax.

I would suggest you for a small car at least 4 pads for UC plus 2 pads for applying wax.

Finally, choosing a pad is not a matter of color, but the cutting level you need. For instance, for Ultimate Compound with a Porter Cable the best choice is the yellow ( polishing ) pad. For defects removal you need to remove paint, so it is necessary certain level of cut from your pad. For applying wax when you do not need to remove paint the best choice is the black ( finishing ) pad which has no cut.
