  • I know this is a stupid question....

I know this is an ignorant question but I'd like to know the answer so please don't laugh too hard. I am about to purchase the PC7424 and was wondering is there a pad to remove the dried wax or do you still do that by hand with a MF?

    thanks

I remove wax by hand. But there are MF Bonnets you can put over a pad for removal. Your still probably going to go back over the car for a final wipe down anyway.

Ok thanks, also I looked at the chart for the Meguiars pads but all I can find are 7" pads and I believe the PC has a 5" backing plate, will these pads still work?

Bear with me, I'm just trying to make sure I purchase everything correctly.

You have to purchase the Meguiars w68da backing plate to properly attach the 7" foam pads to your porter Cable.

You want the pad bigger than the backing plate.

I have actually had good results in using a Lake Country "ultra-soft" red pad on the Porter-Cable to remove wax. True, you will still want to go lightly over the car again with a microfiber, but the red pad seems to give my paint a little extra shine and it's very fast.

For wax removal, Meguiar's recommends a burgandy cutting pad with a microfiber bonnet over it.
