  • Gg6 ??

I'm receiving my gg6 tommorrow and was wondering are the speed settings the same for use with the Meguiars products as with the G110v2 or should i adjust up or down a certain amount. All i use are Meguiars products for my washing and polishing needs.

    Thanks
    Jeff

    Re: Gg6 ??

    i have the griots

i believe the speed settings are the same as the g110v2
    speed 5- 5800
    speed 6 - 6800

i never use it past speed 5 because i use meguiars da backingplate with 8207 and 9207 pads , and meguiars doesnt recommend to use it on speed 6...the pads tear up,i know from experience lol

i think griots however using lc pads and griots backplate u can use speed 6.. but speed 6 is never really needed.

There are plenty of reports on other forums of the LC pads meeting a similar fate when used at speed 6, especially with a lot of pressure, for extended periods of time.

What happens at speed 6, over time, is a tremendous build up of heat as the hook & loop is constantly being fought by the forces of nature. The oscillating movement of the D/A, coupled with that pressure holding the pad down, becomes surprisingly violent at speed 6 and the heat build up can start to break down not only the adhesive holding the hook & loop to the pad, but the pad foam itself. We've even seen the backing plates begin to suffer after heavy, prolonged use.

But "prolonged use" is the key here. If you have an isolated severe defect that needs some extra oomph to remove it, then increasing pressure, using speed 6 or even moving to a 4" pad can all help. This should only be used in those specific, more severe cases and not as standard practice.
